This art piece expresses Terese Trabilsie’s sadness for what she calls a xenophobic Australian refugee seeker regime. As evident by the subtle difference in brick, the artist has bluntly sealed the entrance of the property in a crude statement of rejection from shelter. A door that has stopped being a door symbolizes a civilization that has stopped being civilized. In my opinion, the only way this door can be a door again is to smash it open with a bulldozer and take the whole wall with it, which I will physically attempt myself as a performance statement at the closing of this exhibition.
