For centuries, wise men and women from all over Sydney gathered here to drink from the fountain of wisdom, or as Herodotus called it, ‘Aqua Viagras.’ The original name stems from the Ancient Greek saying ‘All things arise from water.’ Historically, one could watch the town’s men gather near the fountain for morning tea to discuss philosophy, exchange ideas around mathematics, religion, and military structures. Great ideas were believed to have been born here, such as the Abtronic, paperclip, and the Atkins diet.
