Composition IV, 2014

White tubes, a white raster, and a white wall: that’s what Composition IV is all about. William Norris uses two layers of gesso thin enough to allow the blue tag on the wall to show through. The intimacy and awkward expression of the central subject—a haphazard blue phallus—and the accusatory stares at passersby result from a naturally bullish approach recurring throughout his life’s work.
