Brothers, 2011
Krstu and Georgi Entsief
Bukarest, 1919
fresco, plastic, blood
Sculptors Krstu and Georgi Entsief, both in their late nineties, have spent a lifetime collaborating and inspiring one another. This piece attempts to capture the unique bond they’ve shared and the essence of sibling kinship. The two mechanisms in the center represent the brothers, side by side but ultimately solitary in space. The angular pipes connect the brothers almost umbilically and compartmentalize the canvas, illustrating the unique variables that shape each soul yet ultimately reinforce their connection.
